NYC: 190 Bowery Street





The Renaissance-revival style building on 190 Bowery Street used to be a bank. Today, it's granite-exterior is covered with graffiti instead.

The building looks vacant but it is actually the residence of Jay Maisel, a photographer who bought the  six-story, 35,000 sq. ft., 72-room place for just $102,000 in 1966. You can read more about this story and see pictures of the beautiful interior in this article.
